Lawn Care

Mowers, spreaders, and rakes that turn a patchy yard into the lawn you actually want to walk on.

A good lawn is mostly the right routine and the right three tools: a mower that suits your yard, a spreader that lays feed evenly, and a rake that pulls thatch without snapping. Match the mower to your space first — corded for small flat lots, battery for most suburban yards, gas for big or rough ground — and the rest follows.

FAQ

Good to know

Push or self-propelled mower?

If your yard is small and flat, a push mower is lighter, cheaper, and lower-maintenance. Choose self-propelled for larger lawns, slopes, or if pushing a mower is hard on you — the drive does the work and you just steer.

When should I fertilize the lawn?

It depends on grass type: cool-season grasses are fed most in early fall and spring, warm-season grasses in late spring through summer when they're actively growing. Always follow the spreader setting on the bag and water it in.

Should I mulch the clippings or bag them?

Mulching returns nitrogen to the soil and is best for routine mowing of dry, moderate growth. Bag when the grass is very long, wet, or you're clearing leaves, so clippings don't smother the lawn.
